<p>The applicability of the proposed FE model on the impact response behavior of the rockfall protection fences anchored to the plain concrete foundation was investigated comparing with the experimental results for the full-scale fence models. In this study, the fences having both conventional type and base-plate type anchoring systems for the steel posts were used. The results obtained from this study were as follows: 1) the time histories of the impact force and tensile forces acted to the wire-ropes which may be key parameters for designing the fence system considering the dynamic response characteristics, can be better predicted by using the proposed method; and 2) the local buckling behavior of the steel post near the base can be also appropriately evaluated.</p>
