Confirmation of the Validity of the Partition Disk by Flow Visualization Observation

Abstract
<p>In this study, observation of the vortex flow discharged from the circular cylinder which had space divided by the partition disk was carried out. The vortex flow and unification flow visualization observation of each division were performed. The visualization was carried out in a closed circuit water channel by the pouring streak method. The visualized observation was carried out by three kinds of flow velocities (0.065m/s, 0.098m/s and 0.131m/s), three kinds of circular cylinder diameter and 12 kinds of partition disk diameter. It was observed that two flows divided with the partition disk joined at the edge of partition disk, and formed the complicated flow. Phase difference occurred in formation of the Karman vortex on the back side and the front side of the partition disk. The phase difference is considered to depend on the partition diameter. It was found that the diameter ratio must be 7 or more in order to obtain an independent Karman vortex street without mutual interference.</p>
