Abstract

There are high expectations for Yogo teachers to be actively involved in special needs education by utilizing their functions and expertise in the health care room. Traditionally, the role of the Yogo teacher has been to deal with health problems. In recent years, new roles and expertise, such as student guidance and collaboration, are being sought. However, the role of Yogo teachers in special needs education and their position in the support system have not been fully clarified. This study analyzed 22 previous studies to explore the role of Yogo teachers in promoting special needs education and their future possibilities. As a result, Yogo teachers are faced with psychological problems based on the characteristics of developmental disabilities of students, and knowledge and skills for dealing with such problems are required. The Yogo teacher then consults and collaborates with the parents, school faculty and staff, and actively shares the situation of the pupils through the school committee. Finally, when providing educational support, the Yogo teacher grasps the actual situation of the pupils, provides individual guidance, and improves the school life of the pupils.
