Description

In December 2023, Argentina transitioned from the Peronist leftist Fernández government to the rightist Liberal and Progressive Milei government. With this transition, social policy, including labor and social security, is undergoing a major transformation. At the same time, the relationship between the government and the trade unions and social organizations that have benefited from social policies has changed. The past leftist governments expanded social assistance to the informal sector, and the informal sector became more organized. The Milei government has also introduced market principles into social policy and is rethinking the traditional relationship with trade unions and social organizations.
