Description

This study examined the psychological skills required of basketball referees in terms of the licenses held and frequency of activity among 30 male and female college student basketball referees (19.92 ± 1.26 years). The results revealed that 1) referees with higher license levels had better psychological skills in communication and concentration, 2) referees with more experience as referees were more motivated and confident, and 3) referees with more experience as referees were more likely to have a higher level of motivation and confidence. These results indicate that the accumulation of game experience contributes to the improvement of referees' qualities.
