Description

We implemented an intervention program using Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) to promote techniques for Social Skills Training (SST) of after-school daycare services staff and examined the program’s efficacy. The program included lectures on strategies for supporting SST, pre-checking and behavior rehearsal of instructional plans, feedback based on checklists, and video feedback, implemented during daily support practices. The results indicated that introducing the intervention program improved the staff’s techniques for SST. Furthermore, the program had a certain level of social validity, confirmed by the participating support staff and the managerial staff who conducted the training. This study supported the efficacy of staff training based on PBC. However, the study also indicated the need for further exploration of more effective intervention methods, especially concerning skills of presenting antecedent and reinforcement stimuli tailored to children’s responses.
