Description

The purpose of this study research is to find out the comprehension of standard pictograms among preschool children and how they perceive pictograms. A survey was conducted on 58 preschool children (18 children: 4 years old, 20 children: 5 years old, and 20 children: 6 years old), asking them about whether or not they have ever seen JIS pictograms and what they meant. As a result, 12 out of 16 (75%) of the JIS pictograms did not pass the acceptance criterion. In addition, it was found that the 6 years old had more pictograms that exceeded the comprehension assessment criteria than the 4 and 5 years old.
