<p>This article is a review of Visualizing multilingual lives: More than words edited by Paula Kalaja and Sílvia Melo-Pfeifer (2019, Multilingual Matters). This book compiles innovative research using visual data as a research method by researchers of foreign language learning. The first part focuses on “Self in Multilingualism” (research on learners in multilingual environments and languages), the second part on “Identities of Multilingual Learners”, and the third part on “Multilingual Teacher Education” (research on teacher training involved in second or foreign language education). These articles highlight the visual media and research methods using visual data and discuss the benefits and challenges of using visual data on second or foreign language education research.</p>
