説明
Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to present the utilization of non-contrast coronary magnetic resonance angiography ( MRA ) in selected patients with renal dysfunction, contrast medium allergy, or other reasons by reviewing clinical cases.
Methods: A total of 53 patients underwent coronary three-dimensional whole cardiac MRA for 7 years starting in July 2016, wherein three patients received the examination twice. Coronary MRA is an alternative to CT angiography ( CTA ). MRA was performed using a 1.5T MR unit with a 32-channel cardiac coil, respiration navigation, and cardiac gating. The detection rates of significant stenosis, no significant stenosis and indeterminate findings were calculated. The prognoses of all patients after MRA were assessed to determine whether acute coronary syndrome ( ACS ) occurred during the follow-up period.
Results: Significant stenosis was observed in six patients among 53 patients ( positive cases, 11.3% ). No significant stenosis was noted in 36 patients ( negative cases, 67.9% ). In five patients, the finding of MRA was indeterminate ( 9.4% ). The prognosis of patients with positive, negative, and indeterminate cases, including eight preoperative cases, revealed no occurrence of ACS during the follow-up period ( 39.8 months on average ). There was one false-negative case and five early deaths soon after MRA.
Conclusion: Non-contrast coronary MRA was beneficial for the preoperative examination in patients with suspected coronary diseases. Coronary MRA may be an alternative to coronary CT Angiography in selected patients.
