Description

In this study, we achieved real-time spectroscopy using multi-wavelength terahertz (THz) waves generated by an injection-seeded THz parametric generator (is-TPG). Multi-wavelength THz wave generation was realized by injecting multi-wavelength seed beams into the is-TPG. High-sensitivity detection was achieved by converting the THz waves into near-infrared detection beams using the THz parametric detection scheme. The dynamic range of the spectroscopic system using five-wavelength THz wave generation was ~60 dB, sufficient for nondestructive inspection of many kinds of samples. Furthermore, real-time spectroscopy of saccharides was realized using our system. These results demonstrate the potential of using an is-TPG to significantly shorten the measurement time of conventional spectroscopic systems.
