Description
<p>High-magnetic-field superconducting magnets have been developed with superconducting wire technology. Up to now, magnetic fields of 23.4 T and 18.1 T have been the highest magnetic fields using liquid-He-cooled and cryogen-free (cryocooled) superconducting magnets, respectively. In addition, even higher magnetic fields are expected to be generated as a result of the recent progress in high-temperature superconducting wires, particularly those made of YBa2Cu3O7. In this review, the development of superconducting magnets which give the magnetic field environment as well as the magnetoscience related to magnetic fields are introduced.</p>
