Description

Preparatory clinical pharmacy education follows the revised model core curriculum In this study, disaster life support pharmacists were invited to facilitate disaster training classes with university faculty using the evacuation shelter management game (HUG, Hinanzyo Unei Game) and small group discussions (SGD). The training was meant to assist students in achieving the proposed outcomes of the Kinki region’s summarized assessment chart for preparatory clinical education in the areas of regional participation for health, medical treatment and welfare and disaster medicine training received from pharmacists. A questionnaire was given to the students to measure their satisfaction, level of understanding, and level of acquisition of the training, and how well the training matched their personal learning needs. All questions on the questionnaire reached a minimum of level 1 on the summarized assessment chart, with a high median of 4 on a 5-level rating scale. The results from student self-evaluation and teacher assessment indicate that inviting disaster life support pharmacists to be facilitators and applying the HUG game and SGD are effective educational methods for disaster pharmacy education.
