Abstract
<p>The crystal structure of tetra-n-butylammonium chloride (TABC) semiclathrate hydrate is affected by the synthesis condition (especially concentration of the TBAC solutions). Two samples of TBAC semiclathrate hydrate and methane TBAC semiclathrate hydrate, essentially having tetragonal structure-I (TS-I), were prepared. The temperature dependence of powder diffraction patterns for these samples revealed growth of unknown peaks above 263 K. These unknown peaks indicate a different from TS-I. Furthermore, this crystal structure of main phase is similar to TS-1, but the Rietveld analysis clarified that the main phase also has an atomic arrangement different from the result of the previous study. Therefore, it seems that various crystal structures exist as TBAC semiclathrate hydrate. Further study on crystal structure is necessary from now on.</p>
