Abstract

The reproducibility among sitting positions of isometric knee extension sthenometry method by hand-held dynamometer (HHD) for fixing the belt for the fixation was examined for 20 healthy subjects. The measurement was carried out in four different sitting positions of platform edge sitting position, wheelchair sitting position, bed edge sitting position for the nursing, pipe chair sitting position with the backrest. On isometric knee extension sthenometry value in the different sitting positions, pipe chair sitting position significantly showed the low value in the comparison between platform edge sitting position, bed edge sitting position for the nursing and wheelchair sitting position. The interclass correlation coefficient showed high value between bed edge sitting position and platform edge sitting position, wheelchair sitting position and platform edge sitting position. And, it showed the good reproducibility among sitting positions. In the meantime, the low value was shown in pipe chair sitting position and between other sitting positions. Also, the use in the isometric knee extension sthenometry by HHD which fixed the belt for the fixation from present result, the measurement in the pipe chair sitting position should be avoided, and it was indicated that it is possible within the measurement by bed for the nursing and wheelchair is possible, and within it is wide wards and staying home, etc ..
