Abstract

In Kyoto Prefecture, the number of rural-inns and inbound tourists has rapidly increased. We conducted a questionnaire survey targeting all rural-inns in Kyoto Prefecture, and analyzed factors for increasing number of foreign guests and for owners’ motivation. The results of the analysis indicated that attractiveness of exterior of the rural-inn buildings and voluntary information dissemination from rural-inns affected the increase in the number of foreign guests. Besides, owners could have improved motivation by easing the anxiety about foreigner and by raising expectation of income, and more opportunities to have foreign guests is considered effective.
