Description

In order to improve the giving hydrophilicity of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) and to synthesizethree-dimensional PVC gel, I prepared novel telechelics having the reactive groups on the both ends, and graftedthose onto PVC. This grafting was performed by substitution of chlorine atoms of PVC with triazinethiols oftelechelic poly(2-alkyl-2-oxazoline)s (PROZO). The substitution of PVC was experimentally conducted by twomethod, using thiol type telechelics with potassium carbonate, or sodium thiolate type telechelics in1-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. The results indicated that the rate of substitution, the degree of introduction of graft chains,grafting and the molecular weight are controllable by kinds of alkyl groups in the telechelics, the feed ratio, and thereaction temperature.
