抄録

NOX emission control for ship exhausts had launched in 2016 by International Maritime Organization (IMO). Selective catalytic reduction (SCR), an efficient treatment technology, has been used world-wide for NOX removal. However, a drawback of SCR systems in application to ship diesel engines is that they are particularly costly and the use of chemical agent such as urea of ammonia. Photochemical NO removal without reduction agent by vacuum ultraviolet irradiation (VUV) of a 172 nm wavelength is a promising technique. In this paper, Experiments of NO removal in a variety of gas mixing system were discussed for the reaction mechanism. The products of photochemical reaction were mainly N2, and a little HNO3, HNO2 and NO2. The products were controlled by the initial NO concentration and gas residence time. NO removal was increased in a decrease of initial NO concentration and an increase of the gas residence time. At the long residence time, N2 yield was increased. In order to obtain higher HNO3 yield, the shorter residence time was suitable.
