<p>This paper aimed to examine the functions of teacher meetings from Taisho (1912-1926) to the beginning of Showa (1926-1989) periods at Osaka Prefectural Kitano Secondary School and Kochi Prefectural Kochi Joto Secondary School in Kochi. After the analysis, three functions were pointed out: (1) Function of Communication; (2) Function of Management Participation and Discussion and (3) Function of Information Coordination. Although all of these functions were seen in both schools, their chronological shifts varied. For example, whereas the number of agendas indicating the Function of Management Participation and Discussion decreased due to the influence of its social environment in Kitano Secondary School, there was no such change observed in Kochi Joto Secondary School. This shows the possibility that the functions of teacher meetings in the latter school were not affected by its social environment.</p><p>Because of its historical approach applied to this study, it is difficult to generalize the findings. By continuing case studies from various viewpoints, therefore, it is necessary to deepen and elaborate the research for further study.</p>
