Abstract

Since the discovery of Ra by P. Curie and M. Curie in 1898, a variety of radiation sources have been developed in radiation chemistry and many radiation-induced effects have been investigated. In this article, radiation sources, such as, radioisotopes, accelerators, nuclear reactors, and other radiation facilities employed historically relevant to the studies on LET effects in radiation chemistry of aqueous solutions done up to now are briefly reviewed. Finally, importance and contribution of the HIMAC facility in radiation chemistry in the past and future are discussed.
