Description
To acquire the fundamental knowledge regarding asparagus production, the relation between constant temperature (25℃) treatment and the sprouting was investigated using one- year old seedlings. 1. Shoots of 'Mary Washington 500W' and 'Welcome' began to burn in the middle of November and beginning of December, respectively. The shoot of both cultivars withered completely early in January. 2. The sprouting of asparagus was observed, even if the constant temperature treatment started at any time between August and February. However sprouting was delayed in the low-temperature season. 3. The sprouting of 'Mary Washington 500W' and 'Welcome' tended to show an increased number with constant temperature treatment during November and October, respectively. 4. For both cultivars, there was an increasing tendency for branching numbers at rhizome heating after a low-temperature encounter.
