Abstract

In recent years, the growth of computing power makes it possible to apply large-eddy simulation to predict wind environment within urban areas. One of the biggest unresolved issues involves the generation of inflow turbulence that reproduces upstream flow conditions. Various inflow generating methods have been proposed. These techniques for generating inflow turbulence can be classified into two categories: recycling methods and synthetic methods. This study employed one of the synthetic methods, the digital filter method, and attempted to generate an inflow turbulence reproducing atmospheric boundary layer. The generated inflow turbulence follows prescribed statistics written in the Recommendations for Loads on Building by Architectural institute of Japan.
