Abstract
<p>U.S.A., Germany, and United Kingdom have different political system, as well as different research and development system and different ways of academic community’s involvement in policy making. These differences make unique science and technology policy making process in each country. In this paper, examples of policy making in each country are reported, which includes; Trump administration’s science and technology policy and its historical background; Efforts to enhance research activities through cooperation between state and federal government in Germany; and Academic community’s involvement in the enactment of Higher Education and Research Act in the United Kingdom. Some implications of these examples which may enhance science and technology policy making in Japan are discussed.</p>
