Abstract
Electromagnetic radiation from, or counterparts to, the merger of neutron star binaries are crucial to confirm detection of gravitational waves, pinpoint their sources, and extract as much information of them. In this article, we discuss mass ejection from neutron star binary mergers based on results of our recent numerical-relativity simulations. We also discuss possible electromagnetic counterparts, particularly focusing on macronova/kilonova and compact binary merger remnants.
