Description

This study examines the perceptions of “green curtains” in a city and their influence on the promotion of power saving behavior of residents at home and their trust in local government implementing global warming prevention policy. “Green curtains,” that can be made with covering vine such as bitter gourd with nets stretched out of windows or on walls, are expected to contribute to improving indoor temperatures. The analysis was performed using structural equation modeling with questionnaire data from residents of two cities. The proposed model reveals that residents’ perception of green curtains in the city influences the evaluation of green curtain spreading measures and of global warming prevention policies in both cities, and also influences the promotion of power saving behavior (air conditioning) in Z city. Furthermore, the evaluation of green curtain spreading measures was found to influence the evaluation of the local government’s ability and value similarity regarding global warming prevention policy in Fukuchiyama. In addition, by conducting a comparative analysis of residents’ awareness of green curtain spreading measures, the perception of green curtains in the city affects the promotion of power saving behavior (others) only in high awareness groups in both cities, and also affects the promotion of power saving behavior (air conditioning) in high awareness groups only in Z city.
