Description

This research organizes the concept of relationship population that originated after 2016 and presents a new view on the significance of relationship population. Generally, relationship population is regarded as “the third population located between the exchange population and the settled population.”
As a result of the examination in this study, although the author does not deny the characteristic of relationship population, the author feels it will lead to misunderstanding and that relationship population can be explained in the three population concept only by gradation. In other words, the relevant population is not captured only as a step between the exchange population and the settled population. Instead, it should be regarded as one of a number of relationships between urban areas and agricultural and fishing village areas in this new era.
Moreover, this report also clarified the diversity possessed by relationship population. In this research, the author categorized the relationship population into four types based on their relationships between urban and rural areas. Also, the characteristics of each type are organized in the report. In the conventional discourse on relationship population, much attention has been made to the relationship population of regional support oriented type and regional contribution oriented type. On the other hand, in maintaining regional life, a population is required which can continuously “keep the regional life” behavior.
In this research, the author classified such a population as a non-residential area maintenance-type population. In that sense, the concept of amendment-extended families being sorted out by sociology should also be positively evaluated as part of the relationship population.
