Description

A man in his seventies presented to our emergency room due to status epilepticus, and was intubated. We extubated him on the 2nd day because of the improvement of consciousness level. However pneumonia with Klebsiella pneumoniae worsen the respiratory status. We reintubated and started antibiotics. Because of fluctuation of vital sign due to paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, airway clearance by physiotherapy was difficult to continue. After hypermucoviscous Klebsiella pneumoniae was identified, physiotherapy was more actively performed and his general condition had improved considerably. In case of Klebsiella pneumoniae, we should evaluate the hypermucoviscous and do more the airway clearance by physiotherapy.
