Abstract

Our hospital established a CAP committee in 2008. This study investigated 475 suspected domestic violence cases of patients age 15 years or younger who visited various departments at our hospital. The majority of cases in question were pediatric patients and many faced family environment problems or financial issues. In our department, most of the cases resulted in autopsies since the possibility of domestic violence could not be ruled out as the cause of death in cardiopulmonary arrest cases. Among them, there was a case where a brother of the patient had died suspiciously and child protection services were already involved.
