Description

Herein, we report a case of recurrent juvenile branch retinal artery occlusion(BRAO)associated with migraine in a 25-year-old woman who had been diagnosed with BRAO thrice before. In August X, she presented with a sudden superior visual field defect in the right eye. At the initial visit, the visual acuity was 1.2 bilaterally. The right eye was positive for a relative afferent pupillary defect. There was no anisocoria, disturbance of ocular motility, or exophthalmos. The anterior segment and crystalline lens were intact, and funduscopic examination of the right eye revealed retinal opacity and edema of the inferior temporal artery. The findings of fluorescein angiography were compatible with BRAO. The patient had a history of migraine, and the number of migraine attacks had increased recently. All previous cases of BRAO had been accompanied with migraine. In the present case, migraine gradually decreased, and BARO did not recur after starting anti-migraine drugs.
