Description

This paper presents the comparison of the guidance for assessing the severity of whole-body vibration in ISO 2631/1 (1985) and ISO 2631-1 (1997) standards. The vibration in CH-47J helicopter and C-130H aircraft has been evaluated with both ISO methods. In both CH-47 and C-130H, the present standard ISO2631-1 (1997) provided shorter exposure limits than those of ISO 2631/1 (1985). Comparing the frequency-weighting curve between both standards, the difference of the weighting factor in z-axis induced the shorter exposure limits of 4 hours in CH-47J and 2 hours in C-130H. The present study suggested revision should be made in aircrafts vibration evaluated previously.
