Description

I examined the case of an adolescent boy with symptoms similar to those of anthropophobia. His symptom appeared when he became conscious of others in which he had no interest. Because he had not enough experience to have relationship with others, he did not know to have a relationship with others and felt anxiety. These characteristics seemed to reflect the ambiguity seen in modern individuals with symptoms similar to those of anthropophobia. These problems were found in squiggles in his drawings. His drawings involved multiple overlapping images which made it seem vague as if he were unable to decide what to draw. Moreover, it was important for the client to visualize and share such chimera images with the therapist to nurture his ability to concentrate on and accomplish a task and to clarify himself. In psychotherapy for modern anthropophobia, images are considered to play the above-mentioned roles in addition to conventional functions.
