Abstract

A woman in her 60s who had received treatment for myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) presented with anemia. Detailed examination led to the detection of a type I advanced gastric cancer at the gastric angle, and she was referred to our hospital for a second opinion. After strict preoperative examination and care, we performed laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with Billroth I reconstruction. The postoperative course was favorable and the patient was discharged on the 21st postoperative day. We report, for the first time, a case of gastric cancer with MDS and PNH, which are associated with a very high surgical risk.
