Abstract

<p> The purpose of the present study was to identify risk factors for child abuse in post-NICU infants. The subjects comprised 748 children who had been discharged from comprehensive maternal and perinatal care center （our hospital）in the Kanto aria from January 2013 to December 2016. We retrospectively examined whether child abuse after discharge correlated with each parameter of the "Child Abuse Assessment Tool". The risk factors that were significantly correlated with the occurrence of abuse included males（OR＝9.28, 95％ CI：1.18-72.84）for the child, and having many children or experiencing pregnancies at short intervals（OR＝37.89, CI： 5.19-276.81）, as well as inability to ask for help（OR＝20.95, CI：1.08-407.66）for parents. Thus, these 3 factors were identified as potential risk factors for child abuse useful for predictive assessment.</p>
