Abstract

In large parks, the high incidence of the large number of lost-children becomes an important problem. At present, stickers with names and contact information of lost children have been utilized to find the parents of the children, but it takes time to solve the problem. Therefore, in this study, we design and developing a new lost-child prevention system, where a lost-child prevention device supporting ZigBee communication is a main component. In this proposed system, parents can grasp the location of their children in real time by collecting the location information of the devices that each parent and child has by configuring the ZigBee mesh network. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the developed system, a experimental evaluation has been conducted for a summer night festival held at Echigo Hillside Park in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. Based on the location information obtained from the experiment, we can identify areas and times that children are likely to get lost. Furthermore, it is clarified that visitors' movement trajectories can be classified into a total of three patterns.
