Abstract

<p>The word “self-realization1” has appeared in the latest text of “General Rules” and “Special Activities” in the following [Guidelines for 2017] for elementary and junior high schools. On the other hand, focusing on the course of study in the art department of junior high school contains, we found it for three consecutive periods from the 1998 notice study guideline to the next study guideline. In fact, graduate students who belong to the department of fine art in the teacher training course still tend to choose self-realization as the theme of graduation research. By the way, it is said that art education recognizes individuality and nurtures self-esteem, but there are cases where self-esteem is hurt by art education, so we have to pay attention that the difficulty of “self-realization” through art education is known. Therefore, in this paper, we will firstly construct the knowledge and understanding that need to be taken up on the self-realization for children and students in elementary and junior high schools in the teacher training courses of the arts and crafts, and secondly propose teaching method of art education.</p>
