Abstract
<p>Today, size exclusion chromatography (SEC) fitted with multi-angle light scattering (MALS) has widely been recognized as a versatile and useful analytical method for molecular weight measurement and molecular characterization of macromolecules. SEC-MALS is the only method to afford the absolute molar mass, molar mass distribution, and radius of gyration of macromolecules even for poly-dispersed samples. We describe the calibration method of the SEC-MALS equipment, the problems associated with the conventional and new calibration methods and the precise molecular characterizations of linear chains and randomly long chain branched polymers.</p>
