Abstract

<p>We present a case of Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease (CMT), in which long–term gait training was performed with a hybrid assistive limb (HAL). The patient was a 36–year–old woman, who was diagnosed with probable CMT. To ameliorate her gait disturbance, we performed gait training using a HAL (20 minutes/day × 3 days). Her gait function improved markedly without adverse events. We subsequently reduced the frequency of the gait training ; however, her gait function was maintained at the improved level (she could walk by herself and felt daily activities had become easier). Relearning gait using a HAL might contribute to gait function improvements.</p>
