Abstract

Considering EMI noise in the final process is one of the most serious problem in development of electric and electronic devices. This paper studies equivalent circuit modeling of EMI noise source for CMOS-based DC-DC buck converter, which is commonly applied to small switching power supply, aiming to elucidate the generation mechanism of EMI noise for realization of low-noise designing in early phase. The switching node voltage of CMOS output contains surge and ringing oscillation and it is calculated based on the proposed model as noise source. The validity of proposed model is proved by comparison between calculated spectrum of conducted emission attained by applying the noise source to noise model, which is expressed the impedances on the noise propagation path as transfer function, and measured spectrum of conducted emission.
