Abstract

<p> The authors have been promoting various PR activities through education to children in order to foster their understandings of the current state of social infrastructure and its countermeasures. It is expected that this is not a temporary event but educated children and their families change their awareness and interests for civil engineering and infrastructure. Under the theme of “bridge”, “concrete”, and “maintenance”, we created original teaching materials such as paper craft, objects and straps made of concrete, and simple bridge inspection check sheet respectively, and wrote textbooks according to each level of elementary and secondary education. As a result, elementary school students participating in summer vacation research project with parents, junior high school students performing group learning in the Period for Integrated Studies in school, and high school students carrying out bridge inspection and its clean-up activities by the team as a research project can obtain sufficient educational effects corresponding to each aim and level.</p>
