Abstract

<p> The number of public transportation users have been decreasing in Kumamoto city recently. The smart cards have been introduced to public transportation in Kumamoto City. In the smart usage history data includes many kinds of information such as the getting-on date and time and the name of stops. By using these data, many analyses have been done, however, no studies have analyzed individual long-term preference changes. In this study, we analyze the time-varying characteristics of users' preference for city trams by using a state-space model. As a result, it is founded that all users are divided into several segments by the state variable estimates. Finally, we examine marketing measures to increase the number of passengers for each group.</p>
