Abstract

A wideband and low-profile meander four-arm BOR antenna is presented. The antenna is composed of a feeding conducting body of revolution (BOR) element and four parasitic elements. It is found that the parasitic elements improve the impedance of the BOR element and realize a wide VSWR bandwidth of approximately 179%. The radiation pattern of the meander four-arm BOR antenna is almost omnidirectional in the azimuth plane. The antenna height is approximately 0.09 wavelength at the lowest operating frequency. Measurement using a fabricated meander four-arm antenna confirms the simulation results.
