Abstract

<p>[Purpose] To clarify the knowledge, recognition about the cancer and the change of the image for the cancer patients through the cancer education that only cancer experienced persons perform.</p><p>[Method] For 394 first graders of three public junior high school students, I carried out the image investigation by the SD method and self-writing style inventory survey before and after a lecture.</p><p>[Result] In the image investigation to the cancer patients by the SD method, there was significance in all items and every item changed in the affirmative image. By the writing by oneself-style inventory survey, the students who chose the correct answer after the lectures into of six items significantly increased for the consciousness for cancer. In addition, a gender-related difference was seen after the lectures in the recognition about cancer and some items of the cancer patient understanding.</p><p>[Discussion] As for the change of the image investigation for the cancer patient by the SD method, the student saw some real cancer patients, and it is thought that it's caused by that their impression was changed by getting the right knowledge. The gender-related difference depends on having compared breast cancer with a bug through the lecture contents. Besides, it also depends on the lecturers were only by women.</p><p>[Conclusion] It emerged that a change happened in the image for the cancer patient, knowledge and the recognition of cancer by the lectures. However, a gender-related difference was seen in the result, so it is necessary to have a class to supplement the lectures.</p>
