Description

A 76-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital due to abdominal pain and weight loss. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy and computed tomography revealed type 2 advanced gastric cancer with multiple lymph node metastases. Blood tests indicated elevated liver enzyme levels and jaundice, which were suspected to have occurred as complications of sclerosing cholangitis based on the detection of multiple stenoses of the bile duct. Endoscopic stenting was performed, but the liver damage rapidly worsened, and the patient died 50 days after admission. Autopsy findings showed direct invasion of the hilar bile duct and lymphangiosis carcinomatosa of the liver due to advanced gastric cancer.
