Abstract

Electromagnetic waves reflect and refract at an interface between two different media. Surface wave propagates along the interface as well. Although the characteristics of the surface waves for many familiar media have been studied extensively, metamaterials become a trigger to reexamine the properties of surface waves. Development of a high-performance measuring equipment with a high dynamic range has made it possible to observe an extremely sensitive measurement of electromagnetic phenomena which could not be performed by the conventional equipment. Development of signal processing technology has also enhanced the electromagnetic measurement system. By these reasons, on rare occasions observe, one can observe the unexpected signals even though the experiment is well established. On the contrary, this suggests the possibility of new observation systems as well. This paper provides some benefits for the reader by introducing our research results regarding the antenna and surface waves in an omnibus form.
