Abstract
The instantaneous frequency is obtained by using an analytical signal with the Hilbert transformer. However, since the amplitude characteristics of the Hilbert transform with finite order have a ripple, the estimated instantaneous frequency contains an oscillation component that depends on the ripple. Therefore, we theoretically clarify that the instantaneous frequency obtained by the Hilbert transform with finite order has oscillation components that are even multiples of the true frequency. Next, we propose a structure and design method of a variable FIR filter to remove the oscillation component. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is shown in simulations.
