The effects of hospital daycare and rehabilitation on inpatients were investigated. The patient's FIM (Functional Independence Measure) value at admission and its value 6 weeks after admission were evaluated. The lower the FIM value at admission, the higher the FIM value at 6 weeks after admission, suggesting that hospital daycare is effective for patients with a low FIM value at admission. On the other hand, rehabilitation was effective for all patients. In particular, patients with a FIM value of about 40 to 90 at admission had higher FIM values 6 weeks after admission. It was suggested that the FIM value at admission could predict the effect of rehabilitation. The findings of this study may help to develop hospital daycare and rehabilitation programs for inpatients.
