Abstract

Wide band gap (WBG) semiconductor device enables fast switching of high voltage. However, fast switching operation results in large dv/dt, di/dt, and induces high frequency ringing oscillation. The high side arm voltage in half bridge circuit is required to be measured with differential voltage probe. The CMRR (Common Mode Rejection Ratio) characteristic of differential voltage probe has significant effect on accuracy in transient floating voltage measurement. This study evaluates gain and phase - frequency characteristic of differential voltage probes. The compensation method of common mode voltage for low CMRR differential probe is proposed. The proposed method for low CMRR differential voltage probe provides comparable measurement accuracy with high CMRR differential voltage probe.
