Description

The goal of this project was to investigate the effects of childcare support provided by regional childcare support centers. Interviews were conducted with the staff of five childcare support centers chosen as models regarding the actual status of support. After that, a survey was sent to staff from 125 regional childcare support centers using a questionnaire prepared from the results of the interviews; 186 valid responses from 77 centers were received. The result of the analysis of the 186 responses suggested that the support from the centers brought about effective changes in mother and child relationships and childcare. However, issues, such as differences in support content by different centers and different staff were also identified.
