Abstract

The purpose of this survey is to provide a suggested direction for Japanese Judo to take and suggestions for Judo MIND Project, which was started on April 1st in 2014, following the previous survey of Yamada et al., “A Survey on Consciousness of Judo Renaissance Project: A case study of the participants in the 2010 Judo Renaissance Forum” and “A Survey on Consciousness of Judo Renaissance Project: A follow up case study of the participants at the judo head coach meeting at the 2010 Interscholastic Athletic Meet.” We collected opinions about the Judo Renaissance Project, which had been organized from 2001 through 2011. Our questionnaire was distributed to participants in the representative meeting held at the All-Japan Businessmen’s Judo Individual Championship in 2010, in order to grasp their recognition of the Judo Renaissance Project, the project’s effects and matters necessary to Japanese Judo. The survey shows that the degree of recognition about most activities was lower than 30 percent except main activities. Therefore it suggested that those activities should be publicized much more. In addition, coaches who had high recognition about this project conducted activities positively. In order to encourage them to conduct more positive activities, publicity activities take an important role. 70 percent of the subjects felt the images of Judo had improved as a result of the Judo Renaissance, and 93 percent of the subjects felt necessity of resuming the activity of the Judo Renaissance. It is very important to keep these results in mind in order to well organize the Judo MIND project for the future of Japanese Judo. Keywords: Judo, Judo Renaissance, All-Japan Businessmen’s Judo Individual Championship, Judo Mind
