Abstract
The aerodynamic characteristics of a circular cylinder with grooves or dimples on the surface have been investigated experimentally. At the high Reynolds number regime, the thickness of the turbulent boundary layer around the dimpled cylinder becomes thin and the drag force exerted on the cylinder is small.
