Abstract

A purpose of this paper is to clarify a tendency of the expository texts in Japanese textbooks used at elementary school during 1971-2019. And, through the learning of the expository texts, I clarify that what kind of information and sense of value given to children. The tendency of the expository texts in textbooks is: 1. The number of expository texts decreases generally, and it decreases a lot in particular after 1996. In grades, the number of expository texts decreases by more than third grader, particularly sixth grader. 2. As for the explanation, a transcription period is short generally. In particular, many texts of the sixth grader have replaced for a short term. 3. The subject of texts has most "animal" and "plant", particularly "insects". Texts about the environmental problems increase in the upper grades from around 1989. There are many texts that described various things which a child touches in "living". Otherwise, there are many texts about "vehicle" in first grader, about "the traditional culture" in third grader, and about "the cultural things" and "environmental problem" in sixth graders. After 2005, texts about "Braille" and "the sign language" come to be transcribed.
